About Naoko

18 years of teaching.

18 years studio teaching and ownership Comprehensive Pilates teacher training (classical + contemporary) Continuing education in reformer repertoire Trains new teachers through her studio's apprentice program

Naoko owns a four-reformer studio outside Vancouver that has been operating since 2008. She trained under both classical and contemporary lineages and teaches the way that pragmatic studio owners do — with strong opinions about technique but a real understanding that clients walk in the door with the bodies they have, not the bodies they wish they had.

She writes about equipment-based Pilates with the experience of someone who has watched several thousand bodies move on a reformer, and who's seen what works in practice rather than in theory.
